As you can imagine, at Bristol Woman, we always have the hot topic of equality on the mind. And, as many of you will know, Bristol is the first council in the country to have signed the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local life. In Bristol, we are all trailblazers for equality! See more about this in the Mayor’s article in this Equality section.

And this Summer, we are also thinking more about female genital mutilation [FGM]. A lot is happening both in Bristol and nationwide this year when it comes to FGM campaigning. In our Equality section of the magazine, you can read how FGM charity, FORWARD, aims to fight FGM through vital awareness-raising initiatives in Bristol’s schools. While young FGM campaigner from Bristol youth charity Integrate Bristol. Fahma Mohamed, made global headlines this year for her campaigning work. She was pictured with UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, education secretary Michael Gove and our own Mayor, George Ferguson across a number of mainstream media and social media channels.
